A Slight Bump in the Road

On the morning of my birthday, I had a baby appointment (for the one in the oven). Hubby and 4 of the Cupcakes were able to keep me company while I waited to see my great Doctor. Expecting a quick in-and-out, routine appointment, I was a bit surprised when, after telling me that everything looked great, the doctor mentioned that my amniotic fluid was on the low side of normal. I asked a couple of questions portraying a self-confident, strong, non-emotional, pregnant lady-- after all, this is my 7th baby. I'm tough right? WRONG! As soon as I left the office, my mind went racing in a thousand directions and of course, I had a ka-zillion other questions-- not one of which I was able to utter at the time. What I heard and what my hubby heard were not the same things. We ended up calling the Doctor back (after multiple pregnancies with the same doctor group, we have a great rapport with all of them!) to ask a couple more questions, but I still wasn't completely satisfied with his answers. Like any normal Mommy (I think), I am concerned and really in prayer for my sweet little growing baby girl to be safe and healthy. I mean, I should say I'm REALLY concerned. When I got home, I Googled everything and anything about 'low amniotic fluid'. My hubby repeated that the Doctor said the fluid level was on the lower side of normal. Again-- what exactly does that mean and what can I expect, what can I do? Anything that is not routine and normal can worry a Momma. So, I have to wait 7 days for another ultrasound to check the fluid. If it's lower and/or seems to be decreasing, then he will start stress tests. What I'm trying to say is: My mind is pre-occupied with wonder, questions and Mommy concerns. Unfortunately, sometimes I can get a little 'carried away' when it comes to certain things. But my prayers are covering my sweet baby who I can't wait to meet and I will continue to put my trust in the One Who made her.

God got you my sister-and your girl. Praying for you! Remember "DO NOT WORRY ABOUT TOMORROW, TOMORROW WILL WORRY ABOUT ITSELF FOR TODAY HAS ENOUGH TROUBLE OF ITS OWN." Matthew 6:34

I must remind myself of this verse VERY often!

i'll pray for you! try to relax and take it easy for the next 7 days. i know it's easier said than done, but if you do that you will increase your chances of the fluid going back to normal. the same thing happened to me and the doctor wasn't really concerned but i did have to go back and have it checked again and when i did it was normal again. sometimes it just happens for no reason at all.

Hey Wendy....I had the a similar situation with my third...my wonderful docter told me to really up the fluids I was taking in....she said drink until you feel like you'll burst, then at my next ultra sound all was normal. I hope that helped you a little. Please don't worry God has a wonderful plan for your little cupcake.

My friend had low fluid too. The doctor told her to try and rest (she has four children) and drink plenty of fluids that maybe she was dehydrated. At her next scan the level was back up to normal. Drink, drink, drink! Praying for you! -kriss

I will keep you and cute little cupcake in my prayers! I had the same issue when I was pregnant with Cali. "On the lower side of normal". I researched online and called my doctor back in a frantic tizzy and he ordered me to stay off the internet!! LOL!! Everything, of course, was fine but it didn't help me worry any less. God is in control and he wants to see number seven arrive just as safely as the 6 that came before her!!!! In my thoughts and prayers sweetie!
HUGS
