I have a really cute bed buddy

Each time I have a baby, I repeatedly say, "This time I'm not going to let them sleep with me". (I know, I know all about the risks of co-sleeping with your newborn). I've always had great intentions about having the new snuggly baby sleep in their own little bed. Usually, I plan to wake up at night to nurse until she has a full tummy, then lay her back in her bassinet before returning to sleep myself. But for the life of me, it seems that from the minute that sweet little gift from God arrives, I cannot resist snuggling, holding and smothering that new baby with love and cuddling. What is a Mommy to do? I carry the baby around for 9 (really 10) months waiting to hold her, so it makes perfect sense that any Mommy would want to hold their new bundle (all the time) once they've been delivered into your arms, right? I find it so peaceful to wrap Ruby up in a cozy blanket, snuggle her in my arms and cuddle my sweet baby in my bed with the breeze blowing in. Really. I love being a Mommy. However, this has conditioned Ruby to want to be constantly held and not want be put down during the day though. So..if you see me and there is not a baby named Ruby attached to me...something is seriously wrong. She could be knocked out, passed out, konked out, sound asleep--BUT the moment I put her down, she becomes aware of her missing mommy and she's AWAKE. I'm not worried, I'm sure she won't be like this as a teenager. Just a Mommy's girl?

Aww how sweet I thought I was the only mommy that felt this way. But now my 3 yr old daughter still won't sleep in her own bed but like you say this won't be happening at the teenage years that is when they know all and don't want mommy.

Enjoy as you know they grow up all to fast this coming from a mommy that is now also a grammie.

I started laughing after I read this. I always say the same thing and then I see that tiny sweet face and say awww how can I not keep them with all the time. Other then sleeping with the babies (which I never regret) I wear them all the time in slings. I feel they are always safe next to me.

I have an 7 year old that jumps at the chance to still share a bed when Dad is gone. I just figure they grow up to fast and it's one more thing I'm gonna miss.

I have always said the same thing myself, but when you have to drag yourself half asleep out of bed to nurse...only to do it again 2 hours later....well, my best laid plans always get ruined! I just end up falling asleep with my snuggly new baby until the sun wakes us up again :)

I have to agree with you, babies are so sweet. My 6 month old is just so cuddly, just wants to be held in my arms and is most content with me rocking her, or nursing her. A perfect world. :)

You are so right. They are only little for such a short amount of time. I strive to live in the moment with my kids. To take the time to rock and cuddle when they want to because before long they won't want to. My "baby" is only 10 months but is already always on the go with little time to cuddle mom.
That is one of the perks of extended nursing, you get to cuddle them longer. I love it when my children have fallen asleep nursing and then cuddled with me for awhile. I still spend most nights sleeping/holding my 10 month old and I wouldn't change a thing.

You are so blessed with a lovely family. Have a great night with the whole family together again.

So very sweet!. We had our babies in bed with us too. I know, we all know what they say about that, but it's so comforting to know they are right next to us. My husband would always get up at night to change and redress the baby before she would get to fussy and then bring her to me to nurse, so instead of getting up and taking her back to her crib after she fell back asleep, I would just lay her beside us to sleep.
Mommy knows best.
A very sweet post.

So sweet! I totally agree with you about the babies in bed! Seriously I think we are more rested when they sleep with us then apart. I slept with my last three and was more rested then when I kept my oldest in her bed! They just snuggle so cute! Lori
