Tattered, Torn & Treasured

Who cares if they're somewhat worn and torn-- they are Richard Scarry books! Who? Come on, you know-- Richard Scarry!!!! I loved these books as a Little one and now my Sweet Sugars get to enjoy the wonderful world of Richard Scarry as well. Some I have bought on e-bay, a couple at thrift stores and one or two at the book store.

I really treasure this set that was given to my older sister from my Nana (my Mom's Mom). They're now 40 years old! Then my Mom gave them to me knowing my Cupcakes just LOVE Richard Scarry books and looking for Lowly the Worm.

I just love children's books! And I love reading my Little ones lots of stories. Even better is when I peek in one of the bedrooms and find Parker, our modern day Tom Sawyer, reading a story to his little brothers and sisters with no prompting from his Mommy and Daddy. That's when my heart just grows wings and flies away.

Hi Wendy,
I have started collecting golden books that I find at garage sales for my grandma's book basket....LOL! I don't have grandbabies yet but someday I will and they will have a basket of books at this grandma's house.

Hugs,
LeAnn:)

I adore old children's books too! Especially when they are old library books with the catalog card still inside them. The illustrations are always wonderful!

I loved the memories that just came back to me while reading your post! I can remember those books from when my kiddos were little! Just this past week I was going through some boxes and came across all of my books from my childhood. I decided to put them on the bookcase so that when the grandkids come over, they're acessible and I can begin reading to the next generation!

Last week I shared about my Grandma's trunk, the "before restoration" photos. I got it back and I have posted its transformation on today's S&T.

My favorite book to read to my boys was Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and The Giving Tree. However, they also enjoyed the Richard Scarry books, too. We had the third book down in your photos. My oldest must have been so inspired by the firetrucks as he is a fireman now. :)

Sweet post and thanks for jogging the ol' memories up.

I read the Golden Books to my sons when they were growing up....When I was in my 10-13 year old stage my Mom started buying me "Cherry Ames" books. She was a nurse that had many adventures. I have been collected them for the past few years.

Oh my daughter used to love Busy Town! We had a Pico which I guess was like leap pad and those things today and she loved the Richard Scarry ones.

I had a moment not knowing how to leave a comment cuz it does not say? Just an observation.

I loved these books as much as my children, remember looking for the 'little guy' hidden on each page.

I'm lifting the dad, and son and family in prayer. Cancer is awful. I'm believing in a miracle for you too!

What a great collection! I didn't have this author's books growing up (I think they might have been right after my time?) but when I was working as a preschool teacher before I was married, I remember these books everywhere!

I, too, have always loved reading books to children- as a teacher and now to my own children!
And how sweet that sometimes reads to his siblings!

Oh, and so glad you want to join in on Tuesday for Home School Open House! Since this is just starting, if you can spread the word, that would be super! :D

Blessings,
~Tammy

What a nice blog. I just recently started my own blog (still learning) and now I'm finding my way around in BLOGWORLD to look out for some interesting blogs.
I am a Christian mom who I wanted to home school but didn't find the courage... He is 5 years now, 2nd year in school and each time he comes from school I wonder if I want to do it. God bless you! I am also an esthetician, who works from home. Feel free to leave a comment in one of my posts and tell me what you think of the designs.
