Having one Cupcake at a time to make the world a better place.

I have lost my joy before, but thankfully, when I finally realize it’s gone and get around to looking for it, it always seems to be right where I left it. Some days being a Mommy can be draining, uninspiring, and can leave you feeling like a repetitive drill sergeant. I told my hubby one day that I needed intercom speakers throughout the house and yard in order to play a pre-recorded message at the push of a button. You know, the phrases I repeat a hundred times a day to six different little ones: "Did you do your chores?", “NO hitting!”, “Shhh! the baby is sleeping”, “No jumping on the trampoline when Lincoln is on it”, “Stop fighting!”, “Please-- clean up the room!”, and “Who pulled all the books off the shelf?” Sometimes I think, “Gosh they must get so sick of me saying the same things all day everyday,” ; Perhaps as much as I am sick of saying the same things all day on certain days. Then I remember that God has unbelievable patience with me. Do I always listen to God everyday all day long? I have to admit, no. Do I always do everything He wants me to do all the time? Again, no. Are there things that I am always learning and forever need to grow in? Yes. Then why would I expect my small children to listen to me any differently? It is a long process of love, consistency and endurance. And I do not always see this or walk in it, but I know it to be true. Our pastor has 8 children (5 out of high school, 3 married) and they all serve God with all their heart. I have seen the reward in their own family. I have seen the fruit of their labor. Yes-- labor; I labor everyday in my home because, even the days when I think it is too hard or I can't do it anymore, I know it is my calling to raise up these little arrows to love God and serve Him.

And I love my calling.

Wonderful writing! So true ... thank God He doesn't give up on us.

With my children, as you said, they hear the some rhetoric to the point of 'turn off' when they heard it coming ... so I got to the point in saying 'I've told you once, don't make me say it twice'. Then I repeat myself 'I've told you once,I've asked you twice, you don't want me to say it a third time.' I RARELY had to repeat anything a third time. Funny how they never had a problem hearing this ...

WELL SAID!!! I feel the same way! I get so overwhelmed, frustrated, "bored", tired of saying the same things over and over. Your post today has put it all into perspective for me. Thank YOU for that.

This comment is more for the large portion of your blog that I read than this one post.
I enjoy your blog. It is focused on the important things and yet still whimsical, cute, encouraging, happy. Wow! Thanks.
May God continue to bless you as you walk and grow with Him.

If the world had more of you it sure would be a different place to live! I wish you were my neighbor. I wish my kids played with the your cupcakes every day! If you ever move to AZ, I will find you a house! :)

Your post is exactly what I needed to hear today. Thank you for the encouragement! Thank you for the reminder that God has me exactly where He wants me right now- raising up three babies of my own. Thank you putting out there that it is hard being a mommy. Thank you for admitting that you lose your cool with you children sometimes.
