to be three again...
This little guy thinks it's necessary to wear a belt everyday. It's a new thing for him since discovering that belts can hold weapons. All sorts of weapons and even back scratchers that can be used as weapons. I once heard a Pastor tell how his wife vowed never to let their sons watch any violence-- even in the smallest form. That meant no play guns, swords or weapons in the house either. But the Pastor and his wife began to notice that even without any exposure to violent imagery and without the presence of the toy versions of weapons, the kids began to use everything and anything they could find as guns. Bananas, crayons, sticks and even peanut butter and jelly sandwiches became guns! I guess it didn't work.
I like thinking that I'm raising warriors. Boys that will be men who will protect their families and maybe even their country one day. Toy guns and swords don't have to be about violence-- they are not only used by attackers, but by Defenders. Those who will defend what's right-- truth, justice, family, the downtrodden...

Yes, boys will be boys, it's in them. I think your boys look gorgeous.
I feel it is in their DNA to protect, and a wise mommy sees that, and with God's help, leads them toward valiant service in God's army. Smart mommy you are:)
You are so right. We have friends that don't like their children to play with guns but I want my son to grow up knowing that sometimes, to protect what is important to us, we must use them.
Great pictures and great words of advice.
