becoming ours.

I love my home.

When we were looking to buy a home, there came a time when I felt defeated. I cried privately to my husband that we would never be able to afford a home of our own. And with our family growing so quickly, it really made me sad.

Not more than a few days after my latest bout with despair, as we rounded the corner on our way home from church, we saw a well-dressed woman setting up an open house sign. My husband pulled over and asked her where and what time? It turned out to be just a few blocks from church and the open house hadn't begun yet, but she said she'd let us in for a peek...

We pulled up to a adorable, cute yellow house with a nice full tree in the front yard.

The moment I walked in, without knowing anything about the price or any of the major details, I began to cry...I cried because something inside told me that this house would be our home. It was {and still is!} very small, but it had a tremendous backyard and was in a nice safe neighborhood.

At the time, the house was only available to the listings realtors. Our realtor was not one of them, but God moved miracously and the owners were willing to let us put in an offer. Also divinely coordinated was the gentleman who was present on the day of the open house. He worked for a lender and really wanted to see us get the house, so the process was set into motion.

As it turned out, someone else wanted the house as well and a bid off ensued. For whatever reason, the owners themselves accepted our offer and a little bit more than five years ago in September of 2004, the house became ours.

My heart was overwhelmed with joy. This is our house, our home. I love everything about it no
matter how small it may be right now. I garden the yards as if I will be here for a long time. Even though God could call us to minister in a whole new area, my heart is content right where it is.

Our stories are so incredibly smilar - right down to the owners choosing us over another bidder. God is amazing! We see His hand each day in this home of ours.

What a wonderful story! I am glad you are happy with your home.

We are fast growing out of our home but I manage to make it work and look at all the pluses as well.

Thanks for sharing!

I feel like we waited a long time to be able to own our home as well. A few years back when the market was crazy expensive in CA all of our friends were buying houses, but there was no way we could buy one on a teacher's salary. We had prayed about my going back to work, but with two little ones, we felt like that was not what God wanted. So we waited. And waited. And finally this past summer got to the point where we could start looking. After a long, crazy, hard, emotional seach, we finally found the perfect house for us. It was our 11th offer! And it is truly PERFECT for our family. Such a tremendous blessing, and I'm so thankful that we were patient and waited out the market!
