It has always been a struggle going to doctor appointments being a Mommy of 7 little children.
I have done everything from taking them with me into the office (not recommended), having my MIL drive an hour up here to watch them in my home, having my husband sit with them in our van for the duration of the appointment, dropping them or me off while he takes them to their swim or ballet class.
We don't really have the luxury of baby sitters at our whim.
Not because no one wants to watch our children or can handle them, but just because there really aren't any at our instant disposal.
Which is fine because I'm not really a "leave my kids with a babysitter" kinda mom.
We just do everything together and the kids like that about our family.

I really enjoyed catching up on your blog. As always your children are beautiful and so are you. Looking forward to seeing your new baby!! I voted for a boy. We live in California now. It's a different world from our last 10 years in Oregon. We get stared at even more here, with a "big" family, and it's only 5 kids. We do get very friendly comments though.
I know what you mean! I always missed mine if I left them. Retreats were worthless; I spent the whole time thinking about how they were doing and in the gift shop, looking for things to bring them!
Hi! I've been reading your blog for awhile now & just wanted to say thank you for making me feel validated! My husband and I are the same way - not really "leave my kids with a babysitter" type of parents :) My in-laws always take it personally, but it's just that we genuinely enjoy spending time with our kids and don't crave a ton of time away from them. Keep up the great work & can't wait to see the newest babe - soon!
With nine children, we are not the babysitter kind of family, either. I've taken my little ones with me to doctor appointments plenty of times! It's not fun that way, no, but definitely not impossible. I had my last 3 babies at home with a midwife, and all of my appointments with her were done in my home. That was SO nice! But before that, I'd go into my OBGYN's office for my pregnancy appointments, and unless my husband was home to watch them, I brought my kids with me.
We are just the same. We enjoy being with our Children. We do not go out very often. Maybe once in a year. It is hard for some to understand. We also do not like sleepovers. Grandparents find it hard to understand. They do go sometimes, but not like my Nieces ,and nephews do. We simply enjoy everyone being home. Can not wait to here about your newest bundle of joy!Blessings to you,and your family.Marla
