At Last!

In with the new and out with the gross.

Soon after we were married, we had to replace our full size bed with a king. But since we were unable to fit an eastern king mattress up the the steep and narrow staircase to our first apartment, my husband had to buy two extra long twin pillow top mattresses as a substitute.

He made a contraption which kept the mattresses sandwiched together and we bought a pad to fill the gap in between them. It wasn't the best set-up, but it worked.

Anyway, this thing lasted eight years and somewhere along the way, I began to despise those old beasts.

Besides our sheets not fitting correctly, I wasn't able to sleep in our bed past a certain point in my pregnancies-- it was just too soft and I could not get comfortable.

I guess what instigated the whole process of getting a new mattress was my husband promising to clean behind and under the bed. Not only did he fix some boards which had broken, but he also saw how disgusting our mattresses had become.

Of course, this launched me to the computer and I went on a mission to find us the new, perfect mattress.

At one point, I was determined to get a latex model and was convinced that $2300 was the price for my well being and a wonderful night's rest.

My husband was having none of that. He suggested rather strongly that we go to the store to at least check some out.

Now, I'm stubborn and he's cheap, so I knew he would try to low ball my vision of perfection, but I agreed to go since I wasn't quite sure about whether to get a king or a queen this time around. Plus, when I want something, I want it now, and I figured that if we bought one from the store, there was a much better chance I'd get my mattress within a few days as opposed to a couple of weeks.

So off to the store we went...

To be continued.

Stubborn & cheap, sounds like my husband and I! We just had to buy a van and he wanted to buy the ugliest color on the lot because he thought we could talk them down more because of the ugly color! Sometimes he can be so cheap :)
