only 4.
Wow-- it's quiet. No, I'm not kidding. It's really quiet. The oldest four have gone to their cousin's house for a birthday party and the remaining children are almost 4, almost 3, one and a half, and three months old. And they haven't argued, they don't yell, nor have they fought about whose turn is next. They have been wonderfully compliant and well-mannered. Since all my school age kids are gone, I didn't have to homeschool anyone either. I had so much time on my hands that I was almost bored! Breakfast was a breeze and we coasted through lunch-- even Jasper, who typically takes short naps, went down for a long snooze. I guess when you get used to running the show for 8 children, only having four around is a walk in the park.
So what do you do when your four biggest eaters are gone? You go OUT to eat!
But I really do miss Parker, Ethan, Sophia & Charlie.
A LOT.

OK so we've established 2 things: it's the big kids doing all the arguing :) and cutting the number of children by 1/2 is 1/2 the work. Enjoy the little ones!
I totally agree with Brenda- I think as much as the older ones can help- even a lot sometimes. They also can instigate and try to "parent" the other children which can lead to chaos.
I also agree with you, that even though it is less work, you can def. feel the difference and its always better when we are all together.
Congratulations to Parker- he rocks!
What a great picture! You look so pretty.
I know how you feel, I love the quiet when at least some of my children are gone, but then I miss them too. My husband always says to enjoy the quiet and get some things done, but I want them back home.....us crazy mothers : )
