Ask the hubby to tell us how he felt when he met you and how he knew you were the one!

The truth is (these are his words)-- he didn't know I was the one. At least not right away. You see... he had been in the church for about five years before I arrived. He had also told God that he was not going to get involved or really even talk with anyone of the opposite sex unless it was with the genuine intention of getting married. No dating. No fooling around. Nothing. He was kind of high profile in our church, under the scrutiny of the congregation in general so there wasn't much room for mistakes as whatever choices he made or did not make would influence a significant number of people, especially the youth.

He was aware of my first few times in attendance at the church, but for some reason was under the impression that I was with someone else-- even though that wasn't the case at all. However, I kind of stopped going for a while as God began to work out some things in my life and he didn't really give it much thought knowing that he wanted a woman of God with her own personal relationship with Jesus. He also knew that no matter who came in and how attracted he might be to that person, there's a standard for getting involved with a new person in the church called the "6 month rule". This meant that any new person male or female was off limits, since they needed to be in church to build their relationship with Christ, not a new boy/girlfriend.

As it turned out, when I returned, I began to be involved in a number of youth and young adult related events and we had the chance to rub elbows a little bit, but nothing significant. Very superficial. Then one day, after God had been dealing with him for some time, he claims that he began to really "check" me out, but still from a distance at that. And then it happened. Apparently, he was seated in church and saw me come in. As he was discreetly "checking me out", I happened to look directly at him-- busted! Not only was he caught off guard and somewhat embarrassed, although you would've never known it from his exterior, something else occurred. He says that is when he saw the blue of my eyes sparkle in the sunlight filtering through the paned windows of the church, his heart jumped (his words--not mine).

From that point on, he began to try to "accidentally" bump into me and strike up conversation. After talking a few times, less than two weeks later, we began our courtship. He actually asked me while stopped at the top of the ferris wheel on the pier. It was romantic. And we announced it the next day to thundering applause and shock in our church.

We were married 5 1/2 months later and the rest, as they say, is history.

Sweet story, Wendy.
