Later this week, we'll be going to our mother church for our yearly Fall Bible conference. For the kids this means no school and getting to see their cousins-- but for me it means that there's a lot of things I need to get done.
One of those things was haircuts on Monday, so early in the morning, I shaved Parker's myself in the back yard and it came out just the way he likes it. (I'm actually getting better with the electric clippers.) I also attempted to cut Lincoln's hair as well, but after inspecting my work when it dried, I decided he needed to get it cut with the other three at the hair cutting place.
The funny thing about this is that Lincoln is not known for being overly friendly or likeable to those outside our family-- as a matter of fact, he's usually quite a stinker. But the ladies at the hair salon/barber shop (I don't know what to call it!), love him. They told my husband a few weeks ago that he was their favorite.
After returning home, we finished up our school books even though I was craving a day of pillows, blankets and quiet book reading for everyone. But in the back of my mind, my goal is to finish school in mid to late May, so I have a schedule which I am trying to stick to as close as possible.
We plan on commuting twice a day (an hour each way) to the conference. We'll leave around 8am and return around 1pm to eat and take naps, then we'll shower up and head back down around 5:45pm for the evening services. Ordinarily this is a pretty grueling schedule, but our kids are seasoned travelers and usually handle the driving really well, and plus, we'll only be doing it for three days. I actually find it easier than packing morning, noon and night outfits for 9 and sleeping in a hotel.
At least for now.
