our tomatoes.

So we { I } decided to grow tomatoes in our {little cottage} vegetable garden.

I really didn't know anything about them when I, I mean 'we', planted them. But they seemed like they'd be easy enough and a delicious item to have growing in our yard.

Unfortunately I convinced my hubby to buy 2/ six packs and one extra variety that looked like a winner. I didn't realize how big they were going to be.

Now our vegetable box has been invaded by our tomato 'shrubs'. Oops.

Not to mention that our grape vine has really come back this year with a bang looking like it might grab you when you walk by it.

I think we might have to expand our vegetable garden with more space or next time just plant less. Oh well, I'll just have to enjoy the bumper crop of juicy tomatoes this summer!

There is a trick my mom teachted me (for next year): When they are growing, get the little shoots that grow in the middle of two branches out with your fingers and do that twice a week. So there will not be that many branches in the end but more tomatoes as they have more power to grow. Hope I could help you. Katja

I love green tomatoes! Put some cornmeal/flour, salt and pepper and fry those babies up!
