First, I must tell you that I am dangerous when I go to Target. Why? Because I want to buy so many things every time. But this time was different--My Sweetie went along with our 5 year old. They were supposed to be going ONLY for kid's cold medicine. But while there, he called me about a zillion times with, "Guess what they have here?" I loved it!
I'm getting a bit ahead of myself, so let me back up here. For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted a live CHRISTmas tree for the boy's room. Guess what? Hubby called to tell me that they had a 1-foot live tree for $10.00. He WANTED to buy it for them. I used my non-chalant voice and said, "If you want". When he got home, I found out that he had splurged and bought the $30.00-3 foot one.
Whoo-hoo! The boys are so excited (me too)! The only one not ecstatic about the purchase was our sassy little Princess who said, "Why'd you get a small CHRISTmas tree?" We had to explain to her that it's not the family one, but a special one for the boy's room. The idea is to plant it after CHRISTmas and let the kids decorate it outside every year from now on.
And then there's the bonus: For years, I've WANTED the Charlie Brown Holiday Specials Collection. For YEARS. But either I couldn't find them during the holidays or I didn't have the money. Well, guess what? Now I have them! And my children have never seen them.

That is too funny! Don't you love it when hubby goes and does alittle splurgin'? hugs, Ellen
You are definitely going to have to send him to Target more often!!
Hugs,
LeAnn:)
What a sweet husband you have to surprise you with such a sweet tree and fun movies to watch!

P.s. I'm not sure if something is wrong with Mr. Linky, but I just added your link.
I just love when my husband goes shopping. He always finds something that he thinks I can't live without. I have learned over 35 years to let him do that....he has gotten better at his selections over the years!
Have fun with the tree!!
What a wonderful gift! I LOVE the Charlie Brown movies. It just doesn't seem like the holidays without them. :)
How exciting! That tree will smell so good in their room!
Katherine
That tree is super nice! The guy
shops..your lucky! Charlie Brown
Classics are the best, I had them
in VCR for my daughter - she loved
them! I still love them!!!
What a sweet tree and the boys look really excited too. Are you planning on keeping it inside for a month? You should look up having potted trees in the house, but I think that may dry it out a little (since you paid a bunch for it). You also have to pre-dig the hole before the ground freezes. It may be happier on patio or porch for a few weeks, inside for a week or so and then outside again. I remember we planted one of our trees at mom's house and that baby got huge. It's been cut down, but it was a beauty. Good luck with your special gift to your boys.
Loved the Charlie Brown specials too! I think most of the kids who did the voices are my age or older.

What a cute story! The boys look adorable in the pictures. Aren't little girls funny! You've got an awfully sweet husband too!
Kathy
I looked it up and it says that 7-10 days inside. Getting a smaller tree is better for surviving. : )

Your hubby is a keeper!!!! And the boys look so darned happy. Love this entry.
Come view my show n tell if you can find time. It's a new 'hobby' of mine started just this past week. Happy Friday, happy weekend.
What a sweetie you have there. I'm afraid to let my hubby shop alone. He always spends more than I would. It's there giving spirit.
First of all, congrats on getting hubby into Target at all! Mine avoids all stores like the plague. Love the pics and the cute kiddos.
Oh ,how funny! I'm glad you got your live tree and the memory the kids will have is priceless! I too am hoping to get the Charlie Brown specials this year...been saying it for years. I love Charlie Brown!lol!
So glad Sweetie went a little crazy with the shopping :0). yahoo!
What a SWEET little tree, and your honey deserves some special thanks! Actually we live out of town, and my husband works in, so he winds up doing like 3/4 of the shopping, and trust me, they ALWAYS bring home more than we would ever allow ourselves, plus they don't complain about the cost when THEY spend it. I'm so grateful for this.
I am tickled for you with the Charlie Brown set and... I look forward to seeing a post of your decorated tree!
Awwww, that little tree is DARLING! I love it, its so perfect too! I would love the exact one in my kitchen , how cute!
The Boys look adorable too! what fun!!

Wow.. I love this 3 ft. Christmas tree as much as the boys look like they do!!! I would like it in my living room on top of a table..
Have a good day, Baba
I think your hubby deserves extra points for being so sweet!! I too spend way too much money at Target!! I should own stock in it so at least that way I'm investing. LOL
It is hard not to get distracted at Target! It's so fu8nny to me when men do that. I now your kids will ve the Charlie Brown specials -- the Christmas one of one of my favorites.
What an adorable tree. That size is just perfect for my condo. I think I may have to get one of those! :)
ooooo, you got a keeper there (goodies AND hubby:)
The tree idea is sweet! Your boys looked pleased in the picture. And how cool about the Charlie Brown collection! Thanks for sharing.
We always had a tree in our room when we were kids...we dug them up in the woods in our backyard...I ALWAYS picked a Charlie Brown tree! You have the best hubby!
Blessings,
Susie
I get crazy when I go to Target too! I just can't help it! My husband always rolls his eyes.......but then when he goes by himself he is just as bad, if not worse!! That tree is precious! What a great idea to put it in the kids room and then plant it afterwards! That would be so nice to be able to do that. What a great hubby!!
I am doing a giveaway- you'll have to stop by and throw your name in!!
Hope you are feeling great!

Hi Wendy... I am slowly making a come-back 'n trying hard to catch up, again... Love the tree for the boys... my Parents did that for us, too... It was always so nice to string popcorn 'n berries... make orange cups with seeds... pinecones covered w/peanut butter 'n seeds and then hang it all on the tree for the birds to enjoy... Ohhh, you know I loved your post about "Pearl"... and, congratulations on your pregnancy! I'm thrilled for you!! Hope everyone's doing well... God bless...
~hugs 'n prayers~

The Christmas tree is a great idea. Last Christmas we bought a small live tree because I was preggers with Tyler, and he was going to be born before Christmas and we were all going to have our first Christmas together. I wanted to keep the tree for the same reason you do. Or so I thought he would be here before Christmas. I was a week overdue with him before he decided to show up. Thank goodness that wasn't our first Christmas together since the tree died! :) We are going to try again this year. I would wish my tree luck since my thumb is no where near any shade of green.
That is such a great idea to get a live Chirstmas tree. I think I might do that when my daughter gets a little older. I know that an evergreen tree will grow huge here in Oregon with all our rain:)
I am new to your blog. What a sweet thing for you husband to do! I just adore your header on this blog. Come for a visit. Ok?
karen
Very cute! I love how you emphasize "CHRIST" in Christmas as that is really what it's all about. Thanks for commenting on my blog!
