9 Years Old.

Every year while growing up, I would continuously hear about the same old problem from my Mom: She could never get my Dad to take out her Christmas decorations from the attic and put up her lights in a timely fashion. It was usually after much husband harassment and literally climbing up into the attic herself that my Dad would finally oblige her, bring down all the stuff and put up the outdoor Christmas lights. As a child, I never could understood this seasonal phenomenon, but since getting married it has begun to make a whole lot more sense. Fortunately, it has not taken long for my husband and me to be on the same page when it comes to decorating the house. I think it's because the Cupcakes' excitement rubs off on us as we approach Christmas time. This year though, Daddy was as brilliant as ever deciding to let Parker, our 9 year old, hang the Christmas lights using the "big" ladder. This is really cool to a 9 year old boy. As dangerous as I think it might be...it really isn't. Sometimes I have to let Daddy & son just be Daddy & son. I guess it's a boy thing. And now, even though we've experienced nearly 72 hours of continuous vomiting throughout my house, our home is now decorated and we are ready to enjoy the beauty of the Christmas season.
