around our table.

I want to make our meal times, especially at dinner, an opportunity for thought and debate.

Recently I've been assigning each child a night on which they are to come up with two questions which each person will answer personally.

Since we've got kids from barely talking to our 12 year old, sixth grader, we are going to get a wide range of intellectual stimulation from: "What's your favorite dessert?" to "If you could only save one person, who would it be?".

One of funniest questions was: "If you could have any super power what would it be?"

Everyone wanted to talk about this and of course, several kids wanted to know if they could have two super powers.

My husband said that he'd want the ability to get people saved and that started us on an entirely different topic of conversation.

Everything that comes out is by no means 'genius', but I do love to hear what all my children have to say. It makes for an interesting meal and can be wonderfully entertaining.

I always had a lot of verbal interaction with my kids.
Someone remarked on what great language skills they had and wanted to know where they learned it.
'It's because I TALK to them' I replied. Duh!
It doesn't take a village; it takes a family!
